==== Beta 1.5.2 ====
*** 6/13/2023 ***

- Added compatability with release 1.20

==== Beta 1.5.1 ====
*** 6/6/2023 ***

- New interaction: Shooting an Illager with fireworks will enable a fear response that affects the entire patrol (bar Illagers with certain personality traits). Whenever you have a crossbow and firework rocket equipped at the same time, the Illagers will back away from you.
- New interaction: Players with the Strength effect and holding a melee weapon (swords, axes, and the trident) will elicit a fear response onto Illagers (bar those with certain personality traits).
- New interaction: Patrols will no longer detect players who are fully invisible and not within 2.5 blocks horizontally.
- Leaders may now retreat after recovering from incapacitation.
- Wandering Pillagers may now place down a fence post to tie their llama down when interacting with the player.
- Illager Jockeys can now be knocked off their mount.
- Optimized the spawning systems for Pillager Spies and Wandering Pillagers - instead of relying on scoreboards and main.mcfunction, they now use /schedule.
- Fixed Leaders being able to command downed Illagers to surround/scatter.

==== Beta 1.5 ====
*** 5/19/2023 ***

- Overhauled the combat system - Previously, many of the Illagers' behaviors, responses, and tactics were determined pseudo-randomly; now, Illagers will actively keep track of how the player fights and adapt accordingly, giving the impression that they are "thinking." Player-versus-Illager combat should therefore feel more like you're fighting against other players and less like NPCs. Note: Illager personality types are still RNG-based, so some of the nuances of combat behavior will still be pseudo-random.
- Improved custom pathfinding: Every Navigator is now properly linked via scoreboard to the Illager that summoned them. A new Navigator type has also been add; this new type does not force its linked Illager to face the same direction as itself; this allows for Illagers to simulate walking backward and sideways.
- (Resource Pack) New Pillager and Vindicator recolors added - they can now spawn with one of many recolored versions of their Vanilla textures. This utilizes Random Entities, a client-side feature that can be found in Optifine or standalone; you will require either Optifine or some other mod that adds RE to see these new textures.
- (Resource Pack) Navigators are now completely invisible, thanks again to Random Entities (see above!). This means you will no longer see Wandering Traders appear for a single tick when an Illager uses custom pathfinding.
- Illagers can now overcome their fear of primed Skull Bombs and kick them away if the user is abusing them by throwing then immediately defusing them using water; previously, this could have been exploited to make nearby Illagers run away in fear as many times as the player desired
- Illager weapons can no longer have treasure enchantments
- Slightly reduced the chance for Pillagers to spawn with Velocity Crossbows once the game has been beaten
- Villagers killed by Illagers will now drop their heads
- Pillagers wielding Piercing Crossbows and with a "gloating" personality will now laugh whenever a player attempts to block their projectile
- Vindicators wielding axes and with a "gloating" personality will now laugh whenever it disables a player's shields
- Fixed an issue where incapacitated Illagers were able to assign themselves as their savior
- Fixed some more instances where Illagers would use custom pathfinding when they're not supposed to
- Fixed (for real this time) an issue that caused rolls to protect the Illager without launching them
- Restored a broken feature in which patrols would "forgive" players under very specific circumstances - to see this in action, the player must start an interaction with a patrol and wait about 40 seconds without attacking an Illager; this will not work if the player's aggression level is too high, or the player has aggravated too many patrols in a single in-game day

==== Beta 1.4.3 ====
*** 5/4/2023 ***

- Leaders may now use their goat horn more than once during combat
- Incapacitated Illagers no longer play "begging" animation when an ally is nearby
- Fixed an issue where Illagers rescuing their incapacitated allies would occasionally run off mid-animation
- Fixed a few instances where Illagers would use custom pathfinding when they're not supposed to
- Fixed missing arguments in some @e selectors which caused performance drops
- Fixed Illagers in some late-game patrols having the wrong amount of HP

==== Beta 1.4.2 ====
*** 4/23/2023 ***

- Illager movement is now slightly less erratic when in close range with targeted player
- Illagers will now try to dodge firework rockets, same as they do with other projectiles
- Illagers will now heal for 8 HP upon recovery from incapacitation
- Leaders responding to a Spy's call will now play the proper animation (i.e. swapping to and away their goat horn)
- Improved long-distance throw accuracy of Witches; previously, it did not account for target's elevation level
- Added support for Pillagers sniping targets with firework rockets; this behavior is currently seldom used
- Added support for Illagers tracking for how long an interaction is lasting; no applications for this exist currently, but this system will be used extensively to improve combat situations
- Fixed an issue where Pillagers would lose their offhand items after blowing a goat horn
- Fixed the trajectory of firework rockets fired from Pillagers
- Fixed Pillagers shooting at targets while their back is turned
- Fixed Pillagers occasionally shooting two arrows at once
- Fixed the Dummy Crossbow used by Pillagers when retreating, sniping, or bashing lacking an enchantment glint when it should have one
- Fixed Illagers being able to roll while swimming
- Fixed Illagers being able to dodge projectiles while mid-air

==== Beta 1.4.1 ====
*** 4/18/2023 ***

- Tweaked advancement "Handful of Nothing" - It has been renamed to "Man's Best Friend," and the advancement is now rewarded upon finishing off an Illager knocked down by a wolf
- Fixed nearly all instances of attacks not registering against Illagers
- (Extension) Fixed Skull Bombs detonating upon contact with a Whisperer arrow
- (Extension) Fixed Skull Bombs being incorrectly named as "Head Bomb" in death messages

==== Beta 1.4 ====
*** 4/17/2023 ***

- (Extension) A new, top secret item can now be found within Woodland Mansions...
- (Extension) New enchantment: "Momentum" - Also found in Woodland Mansions, this sword enchantment is powered by kinetic energy, dealing increased damage to mobs when the player is sprinting, falling, or gliding with Elytra. Sprinting with the Speed effect and/or Soul Speed enchantment while on Soul Sand/Soil will further the damage increase. Falling or gliding at high velocities will result in a tremendous increase.
- New combat mechanic: Knockdown - All Illagers (except for Ravagers) have a chance to get knocked off their feet when taking damage while low on health. If on the brink of death, they may find themselves incapacitated, requiring the help of an ally to revive them if they wish to quickly get back to the fight. Players can also force Illagers off their feet by performing a sprint-melee attack that inflicts at least 9 points of damage.
- Removed disarming ability from wolves; wolves will now instead guarantee a knockdown
- New advancement: "Usurper" - Finish off an incapacitated Patrol Leader
- New ability: Certain Pillagers will now bash at enemies using their crossbows
- New trait: "Resilient" - Illagers with this trait have a natural 30% knockback resistance and are overall less likely to be knocked off their feet. They are also immune to incapacitation and cannot be knocked down by wolves.
- Increased the cooldown between rolls from 1 to 1.5 seconds
- Illagers will now tend to keep their distance from the player more often
- Fixed an issue where damaging a Vindicator charging its lunge attack wouldn't cancel it
- Fixed Witches not spawning in Witch Huts and during raids
- Added additional checks prior to patrol spawns which will hopefully prevent patrols from spawning too close to the player
- Fixed (hopefully!) a game-breaking issue in which Navigators would begin to ceaselessly spawn upon reloading a world; on top of additional checks, now whenever the data pack loads, we get rid of all living Navigators

==== Beta 1.3 ====
*** 4/10/2023 ***

- The version is now shown on the chat menu when loading the main data pack
- (Resource Pack) New Illager sounds added
- Illagers are now slowed down after performing a roll dodge
- Illagers can no longer roll nor dodge when on fire, poisoned, or withering away
- Illager Leaders marking natural or player-made villages with banners and structures is now a toggleable option; this behavior is enabled by default
- (Extension) Fire Therein projectiles now use Area Effect Clouds instead of Markers; this change allows damage from the projectiles to be attributed to the player who launched them
- Improved consistency of Ravager dash hits
- Fixed sniping Pillagers unloading their crossbows when you get close to them
- Fixed burning Illagers getting extinguished when their Navigator takes damage that doesn't set them on fire
- (Extension) Fixed Spectral Arrows fired from Whisperer bows turning into regular arrows
- (Extension) Fixed Spectral Arrows used as makeshift rockets turning into regular arrows
- (Extension) Fixed Ricochet turning Tipped and Spectral Arrows into regular arrows

==== Beta 1.2 ====
*** 4/3/2023 ***

- Optimized navigation and combat adaptation -- functions that previously had dozens of commands running at a time are now split into branches, overall increasing their efficiency
- Tweaks made to combat behavior of Illagers with certain personality traits
- Witches can now decide to bless her patrolmates if she deems the player a great threat
- Witches can now also bless during combat with non-player adversaries
- New ability: After a certain number of days, Witches will begin using Lingering Potions of Healing to heal her patrolmates
- Cookies and pumpkin pies are now acceptable "gift" items
- Slightly increased the chance of Illager Leaders spawning with an enchanted Goat Horn (from 5% to 10%)
- Blowing a goat horn will now provoke patrols to attack you
- Armor stolen from Vexes will now be highlighted when dropped
- (Extension) Players are now properly credited for Skull Bomb kills
- (Extension) Changed the criterion for advancement "Guaranteed to Blow your Mind" - the advancement is rewarded upon launching a Skull Bomb with an arrow, rather than directly hitting a mob with the arrow
- (Extension) Shockwave no longer affects wolves, cats, and parrots
- (Extension) New enchantment: "Resonance" - This new goat horn enchantment highlights all Illager mobs within a 32/64/128 block radius, depending on level
- Fixed Vindicators sometimes spawning with 16 instead of 20 HP
- Fixed Vindicators always enacting "gloating" behavior when landing a successful lunge, even if they didn't spawn with the personality trait to begin with
- Fixed (hopefully!) an issue where surrendered Pillager Leaders would become hostile again if a projectile you launched lands near them
- Fixed (hopefully!) an issue where Illager Navigators missing a set of target coordinates would navigate to world spawn
- (Extension) Fixed Whisperer Allays dropping their placeholder items
- Temporarily disabled Vindicator Leaders from surrendering; they are more prone to becoming hostile than Pillager Leaders; until a proper fix has been implemented, Vindicators will never surrender to the player

==== Beta 1.1 ====
*** 3/28/2023 ***

- Optimized Illager Navigators -- fewer commands running every tick
- Optimized several Illager behaviors -- functions that previously had up to 100 commands running at a time are now split into branches, overall increasing their efficiency
- The root advancement now triggers when initiating a patrol interaction for the first time, rather than directly harming an Illager
- Certain Vindicators are now more patient when fighting players that are using shields
- Vindicators now have 10 "active ticks" during their lunges - this was done to prevent cases of Vindicators phasing through players harmlessly as they perform this attack
- Pillagers with Piercing Crossbows no longer try to juke out players blocking with shields
- Illagers with "gloating" personality will now laugh at the player after landing certain attacks
- New ability: After a certain number of days, Illagers can learn to "Roll" - Essentially, it's a dodge that happens immediately after the player left-clicks (think like rolling in Dark Souls)
- Players can now right-click an Illager while holding an emerald to initiate a barter
- New interaction: Players can now "gift" Illagers certain food items - bread, carrots, raw and baked potatoes, all stews (except suspicious stew). Give away any of these items by right-clicking the Illager. So far, giving away food only lowers your aggro and threat values.
- New interaction: Players can now give banners to surrendered Illagers, who will swap out their white one for the banner they were given. This is done the same way as the aforementioned gift interaction - simply right-click them with the banner of your choice.
- Players now must use (i.e. hold right-click for a short time) either a bow, trident, or crossbow to order surrendered Illagers to follow them
- Illagers now have proper navigation outside the Overworld
- Improved Illager navigation in water; they now shouldn't get stuck in water as often
